L'Arc Parfums
Another niche brand on the market is L’Arc Parfums. Retelling marketing legends is not my sorrow. I will tell you about the fragrances right away. Most of them are dated 2013 and the author is indicated as perfumer Julien Rasquinet, who understands and feels the oriental perfume market well.
This year’s new product is L’Arc Chrysalide — harsh spicy patchouli with chewed greenery, the coolness of spices freshly ground in a stone mortar and incense. The prickly, fast, lively aroma ends with spicy, but light and optimistic vetiver. In my opinion, this is the most interesting thing about the brand, although I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve heard it somewhere before.
L’Arc Chrysalide, 2019
Bergamot, grapefruit, incense, oud, vetiver, guaiac wood, cloves, nutmeg, pepper, rose, jasmine, amber, cedar, musk, patchouli, tobacco.
L’Arc Aventure Jasmin de Karnak
Green on one side, unripe peach, echoed by the fruity core of jasmine with its tones of baked apple and sweet banana. Remaining fresh, the aroma gradually warms up and drowns in bitter, balsamic vanilla with a drop of incense. Not my profile, but beautifully made, beautifully developed and much better on living skin than on dead cold paper.
L’Arc Aventure Jasmin de Karnak, 2013
Bergamot, peach, tangerine, ylang-ylang, jasmine, musk, vanilla
L’Arc Balade Tiare de Tahiti
Bitterness of marigolds, candied orange and mysterious night gardenia, smelling simultaneously of sweet dope and earth with mycelium. After about 30 minutes, the mysterious darkness dissipates and an invigorating mix of 24, Foubourg Hermes and Chanel Chance opens up.
L’Arc Balade Tiare de Tahiti, 2013
Rose, tangerine, honeysuckle, peony, tiare, jasmine, musk, patchouli, sandalwood
L’Arc Escapade Vanille des Illes
And again, green peach, only here it is with vanilla sugar, bitter vanilla pod, cloves and smoldering incense. Peach leads the way from the very beginning to the end, when around it there is no longer naive botany, but powerful animal musk and the animalic indole essence of dying white flowers. For lovers of Byzance Rochas and similar bright stars from the 80s.
L’Arc Escapade Vanille des Illes, 2013
Peach, rose, musk, vanilla
L’Arc Evasion Digo de Havane
Aniseed vodka, rough raw tobacco and Finnish dark chocolate with lavender, sea salt and licorice. Nothing happens in Evasion. Still life and still life.
L’Arc Evasion Digo de Havane, 2013
Cinnamon, lavender, tobacco, honey, dark chocolate, cedar, vanilla
L’Arc Memoire Carnet de Voiage is a very calm, smooth patchouli with a fresh fruity note in the spirit of Aventus, vetiver, musk and the legacy of all masculine fougères of the Fahrenheit family - violet leaf. Actually, this is what defines it all.
L’Arc Memoire Carnet de Voiage, 2013
Pineapple, bergamot, black currant, violet, lily of the valley, rose, saffron, white cedar, musk, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver
L’Arc Traversee Cedre d’Ifrane is sweet, cozy with chocolate biscuit, almond crumbs and saffron. Much more humane than the gourmand fragrances of Mancera and Montale.
L’Arc Traversee Cedre d’Ifrane, 2013
Birch leaf, violet, cedar, amber, leather accord, musk
L’Arc Argentijm Halo the Lune is a traditional composition for the past decade with neat oud, saffron, greenery and obligatory burning and cooling notes. Balanced, very smooth aroma. One of a couple dozen of the same. I hardly recognize it in the sillage.
L’Arc Argentijm Halo the Lune, 2013
Orange, artemisia, cardamom, nutmeg, saffron, oud, amber, musk, sandalwood
L’Arc Boreale Valer d’Etoiles — pink gouache mixed with a ton of cashmeran, iris powder and heliotrope pollen. Creamy and very delicate, feminine, cosmetic fragrance that stays close to the skin.
L’Arc Boreale Valer d’Etoiles, 2013
Heliotrope, iris, rose, amber, violet, lily of the valley musk, vanilla
