Rose de Caroline Chopard
Caroline's Rose reminds me of an eye exercise where you have to look at something close and far away in turn. Up close, the eye focuses on the dense thickets of scarlet and crimson roses, a living wall that covers a tiny corner of a quiet garden in the city center. When the gaze is directed into the distance, the roses blur into shapeless scarlet spots, and on the very border of greenery and silence, patterns of gilded garden gates, subtly trembling from the street vibrations, emerge.
The scent of passionate scarlet roses with spicy saffron and a slight metallic chill, Rose de Caroline, was created for the co-owner of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele, by perfumer Alberto Morillas. He combined the professional and the personal, the professional interest of the heiress of the ancient jewelry and watch house in precious metals and her passion for garden roses (according to Madame Scheufele, she has about three hundred of them).
Rose de Caroline has a delicate Centifolia rose and a full-blooded, spicy aroma with clove tones of the Damask rose. Precious spices are measured out with a golden thimble, and not a generous handful, as would be the case at an Eastern bazaar, and therefore Rose de Caroline is a beauty in scarlet silk and gold, but a European beauty.
For greater effect, the designers placed the perfume in a bottle that exactly matches it, and the result is simply a work of art. To my sorrow, it is very expensive and released in a limited edition. I understand that few people can buy it, but at least try it as an example of an ideal perfume portrait.
