Maison Matine

A package with samples of the new French brand Maison Matine arrived in the summer, and then, hot on the heels, the first impressions were written down. Now I'm rereading and I don't recognize some of the scents. Did I even try them?

Hasard Bazar initially seemed like a brother of the second Molecule, but by spring one of us had settled down, and now Hasard Bazar is yellow sunlight through a striped curtain, a waltz of dust particles in the still, heated air, and an office version of a siesta with your feet on the table. Hasard Bazar is full of transparent light musk and the finest powder imitating a healthy holiday tan. Somewhere in the distance, there is a smell of diet vanilla latte on soy milk and Chanel 22 perfume, slightly suffocated in the midday heat.

Bain de Midi is your beach bag, where a whole bunch of sunscreen, sunscreen and after-sun products hang, colorful scraps of fabric on strings, for some reason called a swimsuit, canvas espadrilles full of sand, a straw from a drunk coconut and a vanilla-flavored lip balm. In addition to material things, the bag stores memories of the sun, the sea, blissful idleness and a relaxed vacation mood.

Avant l`Orage Maison Matine is the smell of cocoa, as it is traditionally depicted in perfumery, only here cocoa is on thick almond milk, whipped into a lush foam, and sprinkled with marshmallows. More for the entourage than for actual food, two “fingers” of savoyardi on a plate, and a thin black cigarette smoking like a snake in the ashtray. Either late Sunday morning or early evening.

Into the Wild Maison Matin is a model of a submarine, which the author abandoned halfway through the work, right in the water. The strange construction smells of seaweed, slime, burnt wood, the salty freshness of cucumber brine and the earthy freshness of forest violets.

The most attractive Esprit de Contradiction Maison Matine in a test tube did not survive until spring, because it was mercilessly sprayed on itself and just into the air. It smelled like a fluffy lump of cotton, fresh iris with herbs, lemon juice and soy milk.

Mandarin, lemon, pepper, coriander, musk, vetiver, ginger, ylang, orris, cloves, sage, cedar.

We don't have any of this yet. The Maison Matine brand is very young, it appeared only in the fall of 2019 and is actively promoted on social networks. The fragrances are inexpensive - €55 for 50 ml., the bottles are modest and simple, but cheerfully painted. The boxes reminded me of old Uermi issues.
