Estee Lauder Desert Eden, Paradise Moon, Blushing Sands, Radiant Mirage, Sensuous Stars, Dream Dusk, Infinity Sky

Admit it, you've been waiting for something new from Estee Lauder for a long time. Lately, it felt like all the creative forces were thrown at Tom Ford or By Kilian or anywhere but the main, basic, ancestral brand with which it all began. But Estee Lauder hasn't been forgotten either. Eight new fragrances in elegant bottles are already being distributed to stores and are making people talk about them.

I was captivated by the flirtatious rose with the sweetness of lychee and strawberry Turkish delight Desert Eden. On the skin, it reveals woody warmth and metallic tones of saffron, and in a transparent 100500-meter trail, silver incense smoke. If you're looking for authentic oriental roses, you can easily find hotter ones, but Desert Eden is good in our climate.

Sitting by the river, watching perfume critics float by and literally feeling with every breath how Paradise Moon turns from apricot shampoo into apricot compote, from compote into a handful of white apricots with thin skin, apricot skin into creamy silky suede, and delicate suede into short but very thick snow leopard fur.

That's exactly how blooming osmanthus smells in Shanghai, apricots, a little soap and leather. Or that's how perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux saw it.

Osmanthus is one of the main perfume trends now. Some emphasize its animalistic, leathery and bodily aspect, others, like Estee Lauder, freshness and purity.

Osmanthus, cistus labdanum, leather.

Blushing Sands is perhaps the first fragrance in the collection that niche perfume connoisseurs should get to know. It has absolutely no flowers or calf tenderness, but it does have green and oily vetiver, burnt gunpowder, salt, iris and small black berries of bird cherry. Blushing Sands falls on you with thunder and lightning, but just as decisively and quickly fades to a light gray-green. It fades, but does not cease to be strange and a little dangerous.

Pink pepper, vetiver, musk

Radiant Mirage will delight fans of Tom Ford's work. Snow-white morning jasmine and laundry white neroli, relaxing coolness of white marble, powder, earthy gray patchouli and a drop of evernil. The aroma is light and impenetrably dense, like fog, and therefore its name suits it. The aroma is whispering, but its voice does not stop for a very long time.

The scent of early morning. White tea with a drop of coconut milk and the thin poplin of a snow-white starched shirt. Tender Light is created for lovers of modern freshness, from which all corporeality has been subtracted as unnecessary.

Shyamala Maisondieu

Tea, bergamot, iris

Sensuous Stars is a dense, powdery and even slightly lipsticky modern chypre with patchouli, tobacco and fragrant plum jam boiled to the state of marmalade. It and Dream Dusk are the closest to what Estee Lauder is currently releasing in its main line. I think Sensuous Stars should appeal to fans of Modern Muse and its flankers.

Lavender, plum, iris

I really liked Dream Dusk on the first day of my acquaintance, but in fact I can’t stay near such cheerful and naive aromas for a long time. Fresh rose, peony, freesia and sour currant together turn into a cheerful (even too cheerful) compote.

Jean-Marc Chaillan

Sakura, blackcurrant buds, geranium

Infinity Sky is the most French fragrance in the collection and will probably be very popular in Europe. Amber, chestnuts, maple syrup in the clear Parisian air. Good, but sweet for me.

Dominique Ropion

Sichuan pepper, vanilla, leather, wood

What to expect from the new Estee Lauder collection? If you have tried everything and more in niche perfumery, there will be nothing to surprise you with here. Perhaps, how elegantly the fragrances are made and how comfortable they are, even if you don’t like them. I also didn’t find any quotes from the past. The new fragrances are like a bridge from the present Estee Lauder to the future, which was painted for us quite clearly. Let’s get ready and get used to it.
