Aqualis London
The Aqualis London brand produces fragrances in the concentration of perfume and is sold in one of the most elegant and expensive department stores in the world – Harrods. The owner and author of the idea, Stein Grobler, was born and raised in South Africa, worked with perfumery and in the luxury industry and decided that he had something to say to the world. Perfumers from the Robertet company helped him with this. What happened in the end? In my opinion, Aqualis is a balanced commercial line of easy-to-perceive fragrances. In some ways recognizable, sometimes surprising, because the author shares olfactory experience from that side of the globe where few of us have been.
Brenton is a popular seaside resort on the southernmost tip of the African continent. There is no life beyond, on the other side of the turquoise sea, somewhere far beyond the horizon, there is only icy Antarctica. And you are in your underwear, drinking chardonnay, basking in the gentle sun and breathing in the fresh salty wind. If you don't think about South African specialties, Brenton is a classic, perfectly balanced marine scent with lemon, amber and light greenery. Clingy, not flashy, always appropriate.

Mandarin, bergamot, sea salt, orange blossom, geranium, vanilla, tonka bean, cedar, amber, musk.
The picture that Canvas paints would be suitable for any girl's Instagram: white linen sheets, a bouquet of yellow flowers scattering their pollen everywhere and a smooth gray cat curled up like a donut. Canvas is pleasant and relaxing. It has freshness and powder, yellow iris and fluffy mimosa, a fresh wind from blooming orange trees, the bitterness of balsamic resinous vanilla and somewhere in the depths gray suede. To fully reveal all the beauty requires warmth and time.

Blom is a flower for Africans, and musk for me. A fresh, cool musky mist through which a still life with a jug of cold water, a currant leaf, pink apples and a freshly cut sugar watermelon can be seen as a blur. From the very first second, Blom evokes something familiar aquatic from the 90s, plays with quotes from In Love Again by Yves Saint Laurent and L`Eau par Kenzo.

Bergamot, grapefruit, blackcurrant, neroli, green notes, gardenia, rose, geranium, powdery accord, jasmine, magnolia, white musk, cashmere, cedar, amber, vetiver, vanilla.
Coda is the final chord, the final phrase at the end of a sentence. Coda in Aqualis's mind is the Middle East with its love for oud, saffron, roses and sweet Turkish delight. The rose is beautiful here and appears in all shades of velvety bitterness of tobacco and plum jam. Strawberry and pomegranate Turkish delight, candied lemon, and dried figs with black pulp on a thin gold tray. Beauty. Not new, but it's impossible to tear yourself away every time.

According to the author, Namaqualand should smell like a desert, which is a stone for 11 months, but in the rainy season comes to life and is covered with a carpet of flowers. For me, Namaqualand is not a landscape, but a still life in white tones: white flowers with a solo snow-white tuberose, a spoonful of strawberry jam for tea on white porcelain and in white sprays and tubes, a fresh remedy with mineral and creamy tones from, for and instead of the sun. As a result, it is feminine, elegant and reminds me of many things.

Kalahari should take us through the blazing red sands of the most terrible desert in Namibia. To me, the aroma seems calm and gourmand with its smell of roasted nuts in honey, black smoked tea, gingerbread, vanilla and raspberry jam. The strange thing here is a little ash at the bottom and smoking slightly damp wood in an old fireplace.

Saffron, raspberry, rum, vetiver, rose, cedar, labdanum, benzoin, tonka beans, leather, vanilla.
With Utopia, I didn't get along at all. Instead of the declared fireworks of citrus notes, freshness and light, I feel woody-amber aromatic materials over apricot soap. And nothing else. I attribute it to the peculiarities of perception.

Blood orange, dried apricots, clary sage, pink pepper, osmanthus, rose, jasmine, papyrus, Iso E Super, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, vanilla, amber.
I would wear two of the Aqualis fragrances I tried with pleasure. Iris and mimosa in Canvas sound like a harbinger of spring, and rose with saffron in Coda are always loved. I would smell Brenton with joy on the men around me. Such lively fresh ones are a rarity, despite the popularity of the genre.
